Another cancer to the family tree...

My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer this week. It's both sides, but they won't know what type or stage until they do the surgery next Thurs (lumpectomy).

I think I should be more upset about this than I am. Honestly, my first reaction was two thoughts simultaneously- the first was "aww crap, mom doesn't need the extra hassle of this!" the second was "oh good, yet another cancer to add to the family health history & I'll have to get a mamo earlier."

Is that terrible? I'm not really worried for her, I know she'll live through this. Only the good die young. The mean, family abusive, insane alcoholics manage to live through it all to go on making us miserable. I can't tell you awful I feel to even think that, much less type it! Anyway, she's already been through a quad bipass, total colectomy, & has diabetes. So the surgery isn't without risk, but as long as she comes out of the anethesia, I think she'll be fine.

In other total randoms- I'm exhausted. It's been a busy, understaffed week & I've picked up OT every day so far. I have tomorrow off & was considering going in for a couple hours, but am not signing up for it until I know how I feel in the morning. I also seem to have picked up a totally annoying habit of waking up about 30 minutes before my alarm goes off.

Being tired prob made this more irritating, but the stupid lawn people were in the community with a leaf blower running until 8:40 pm. Seriously?!?! I'm bringing that up to management. Lawn companies are a dime a dozen around here & that seems redicolous for them to be here that late.

FF is screwing with my head. If I record the CM from what I remember, it wants to change my O date to either the 15th or 17th day of the C. When the temps clearly show that it was CD20. So, I took the CM out & it changed to a dotted line.

Anyway, I'm going to unwind for the night. Talk to ya later!

Thoughts for a friend...

I think you all know Misty. I got a text from her earlier that they'd spent the whole night in the hospital with gramma. (this would technically be Chris' g-ma, but I know Misty couldn't love her more if they were blood related) Anyway, gramma has congestive heart failure. The most recent I've heard is that they are releasing her to hospice & putting her on morphine to keep her comfortable. Please go over & give Misty all the love, support, & hugs that we can give through the web. I think she could use it. Thanks!

Surfacing

Sorry to be gone so long. I haven't been well & was sick of being whiney. I'm finally starting to feel better though. The damn Met has really been almost more than I could take. The stomach issues have caused me to miss a few days of work (not good). It got to the point where I had a list of about 12 foods that I could safely eat. At the height of the ickiness, AF showed. On CD 42. I was ticked, I thought the Met was supposed to regulate my c, not make it longer. I know, I'm expecting too much of it & should give it time. Let's just say I was NOT dancing in white spandex. (have you seen this commercial? I almost fell off my chair laughing the first time it came on.)

Anyway, we adjusted my work schedule for a few weeks. It looks like I'll be working 4 days/wk & starting later in the day. I hope it helps give me a chance to "catch up" & feel better. I need to get back to working out too. I was thinking about challenging myself to 20 mins/day for a week straight. It's gotta be a good start right?

I would like to say that I've at least been doing something, but I really just haven't felt like anything lately. I've gotten pretty good at a couple of online games, but they're not at all productive. I did finish a couple of crochet ponchos that I was making for a couple little girls in the congregation. They love them. They're a little big, but better too big than too small. They're for the kids of my IRL IF support person. She survived IF & multiple m/c & these two are the result. Here's a pic - (the other little girl jumped in when she saw a photo op. the younger blonde is not smiling because she had fallen & banged up her knee shortly before)

I'm trying to get the house in order this week. We are supposed to go to MB for the w/e. I totally need a w/e away, there's no doubt on that. But I'm getting slightly worried that it won't happen if we don't get the tax refund soon. Taxes are such a scam anyway. And it shouldn't take this long to get an e-filed refund.
Ok, somehow I thought that blogging might help. I'm still totally gloomy though, so I think I'll take my bad mood somewhere else. Sorry to be a crab. I'll talk to y'all later.

We got a car!

Ok, so it's not the one I want, but it's the one I can afford. That's more important. It's a 09, but brand new, I've never had a brand new car & this is super exciting! Here are some pics- I never thought of myself as an orange person, but I think the color is sporty.
The interior- took me forever to figure it out, but that lower slot is for holding thing like parking tickets.
This one's kinda dark. That's because DH doesn't really know his way around & took FOREVER to get to the store!
Sorry about the screen, I took this one just now from the apt window. But, cool color huh? I think they call it something like metallic sunset? It's a shiny red/orange.

It is a Kia Rio. (for the record, the one that i really want is the rondo) We have a totally crappy interest rate because we don't have stellar credit, but the plan is to drive it for 12-18 months, then do a trade in for a Rondo (unless DH talks me into the Soul by then). And for anyone who thinks like my mom- YES! We got Gap ins!

The biggest issue is that it was not worth it for us to trade in the Chevy. Turns out that it's a good car, but 6yrs old, getting up in miles, with no real strong demand. It would've cost us $500 upfront & about $40/month to trade it. So, we're looking into either selling it, or budget juggling to see if 2 cars is doable. I just don't see the point in us having 2 cars, not really needed. Right now, we have use of my parents' truck, but it's an '84 gas guzzler. So, with what we spend in gas, 2 cars may be better. Or we may try to sell it on our own, I figure that even if we take a $500 hit on it, we'd be better off than the trade. Sorry, thinking out loud, feel free to give opinions though.

Other stuff- Finally starting to feel better! I did a lot of reading the other day & am trying to do what I can to minimize the icky feelings of Met. For example, I'm breaking up my meals into smaller, but more frequent ones.

FF finally gave me CHs. Damn C! We totally missed it as far as BD, but I haven't felt well enough for it. I'd really just like AF to start now so I can move onto the next C. I refilled the Met on Sun, so one more month to re-doing b/w & possibly starting Clomid! (i still think i want a hsg first)

Ok, I'm going to get running. I'm having lunch with my mom & I still need to stop at the bank & change over my checking & savings accounts. They came up with a totally new, cool program that will save me money in the long run. :) I also took an hour of time for someone this afternoon, so have to have my butt into work by 4. (i was feeling generous & i think it's a good idea to do favors from time to time, i may need one in the future!)

I hope all y'all have a great day! :)

Can I have my hour back?

Sorry to be MIA. I'm not having such a great week. I really don't want to sound all doom & gloom, because I'm usually a rather upbeat person. But I really just feel like I'm in a funk. My stomach still isn't doing too well. I narrowed down last week's problem to a bowl of popcorn I'd eaten. I'm glad it's not the oatmeal. I really can't give up oatmeal.

I think it may be the time change, but I've been so tired this week. I'm doing what I can, but get home from work feeling like I could fall asleep standing up. I'm sleeping a full 7.5-8 hrs/night, so I don't get why I'm so tired. I decided that it was time to get my but in gear & start working on Mii again. I worked out Mon & Wed this week. Despite stretching, my back is killing me! I know, push through it.

I ended up calling in today. I really don't like missing this much work. Today I feel like someone inflated a couple of balloons inside me & my ovaries are aching. The best I can figure is that it's AF messing with me. My temps are so messed up, I have no idea what this month is doing.

Gaaah! Ever feel like no matter waht you do, you're running into a brick wall? Anyway, maybe it's peer pressure, but I've got 2 napping cats on the couch & I'm going to join them. A nap may help. Talk to you later.
