Welcome to 2010!

I tried to just update this on to my last post, but don't know how. Here's my fav version of this song. It's a little long, but SO pretty! (btw- i LOVED that movie!)

Time's March

It's so hard to believe that we're at the end of a year. The end of a decade actually. The thought of time has been with me for the past few days.

It's been 10 yrs already that DH & I have been together. We said hello to the new century together 10 yrs ago (i will leave out the debate that there was no yr "0", so technically the millenium thing was a year early). It doesn't feel like it's been that long.

Overall, 2009 has not been that great. Yet I'm feeling more hopeful for some things than I was a year ago. I've been thinking about the whole concept of "resolutions" & I'm not a huge fan of them. I do though have a mental list of a few things I'd like in 2010. The funniest thing is that most of them are not really in my control. I can contribute to a few of them though, so will do my best.

The one that prob goes w/o saying is that I'd like a healthy pg that results in a live birth. Seems simple enough, right? I'm happy to have ins going into this yr & hope that I can finally get answers & solutions. (BTW- i left a mssg for my dr's office 2wks ago, they haven't called back. they may have just lost a patient!)

I'd like to be more organized. I'm working on this. I have gone through boxes of papers & junk & gotten rid of a LOT of unnecessary baggage. I think another good day of two will do it. Then, I'd like to STAY organized! I've always wanted one of those houses where everything is in order & I would know where to find it.

I need to loose more weight. I've shared just about every aspect of my life with you ladies for a couple years now, so here's some honesty. I used to be a trim size 10. My lowest weight ever was 145, a healthier weight for me is from 150-160. My heaviest ever was 293 & a size 24! In the last 2yrs, I've lost a little over 45lbs & gotten down to a size 20. Other than really not liking the way I look, I know that the extra weight is not healthy. I may not ever be a 10 again, but I'd accept a size 12 & want to be no more than 175. I really don't eat unhealthy, but I don't exercise as much as I should. So I'm going to try to spend 20-30 minutes/day doing something active. I also think Met would help.

I want to keep getting our finances in order so we can buy a house. Really sick of apt living! Plus I know that if it comes to adoption, we would need to have stable finances.

I want my sister back. I really have no control over this one. I'll give a brief explaination & you can ask any questions you want. To be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, there are requirements for how to live your life. She chose not to. In fact, she made a couple of really stupid choices & was not at all cooperative when the elders tried to correct her. So after trying to work with her, the decision was made back in July to disfellowship her. This means she's no longer serving as one of Jehovah's Witnesses & she is cut off from association. Due to a few other things she's been going through, the family has not cut her off completely & of course I still see her at work. But the contact is not what it was. It's for necessary business, not the close together, hanging out as sisters, everyone together for dinner that it used to be. I really miss that & I really miss her. (we've been best friends our whole lives.) Disfellowshipping is discipline, so it doesn't have to be permanent, but they have to WANT to come back. (once they do, they are accepted back with open arms. think of it like a child being given a time out) She's finally accepted being on medication, so I think she's starting to think more clearly. She's also realizing what she's lost & has begun to take steps to correct it. I just hope she continues to make progress & comes back.

Well, I have to work this afternoon/evening, so I'd best get going. If any of you are going out tonight, drive safely! See you all next year! :)

And that's a Monday for you

Wow! We got SLAMMED today at work! We had 30% more calls than expected. That's back to back ringing in, with people on hold. By the time I left, our service level was only 80% & that was back up from...I'm not sure how low is got. "Good" is about 91%. At least most people were nice, but I almost lost my voice several times.

I actually feel like crying right now. I'm not really in a bad mood, just exhausted (and a bit hungry). I think I may be O'ing, I'm not sure when I got so derailed, but I haven't temped in a while. And the ongoing stuff with my little sis is getting to me today. (it's been 5 months & i'm almost ready to talk about it) I wish she'd get her head on straight.

And DH & I are in a mild tiff. (POSS TRIGS!!!) His sister called today with an "update"- it's a boy. It's really just SO unfair! Not just for my sake, but for so many of the women I've met here. Why not one of the great ladies who've been trying so long? Why not one who's been through multiple years of IF or one treatment after another? Why an "oops" to someone who is not prepared to parent??? The tiff part of this is that it just doesn't upset DH the way that it does me & he is just focussing on the fact that he'll be an uncle again & glad that the baby is healthy. I didn't say that I was wishing her or the baby anything bad, I said it wasn't fair! And it's not!!!

He'd better be ready later to BD is all I have to say, or I may have to hurt him.

On the good news front- His boss fired one of the shop guys & moved DH to days in the shop. So he'll be getting hourly (it's a pittance, but steady) + water damage commission. I'm trying to get used to having him here at night. He snores....loudly. It'll be nice in the long run though. I like it when we're on the same schedule.

Oh & he finally cleaned OUR carpets this w/e! I don't think they've really been cleaned in a long time. Yes, the community pays a guy to do it, but I've seen what he does & it's not really cleaning.

Anyway, DH will be back soon with dinner. I'll talk to you all soon! I've been trying to keep up on everyone's blog & will be commenting soon! :)

Clarification...

Ok, this is why I should not post 1/2 asleep! I think I may have confused everyone.

The Dr I saw in MT was a good guy. Really very nice & an excellent OB/Gyn. But, when I think back to some of the stuff he told me, I get a little pissed. I've had blood sugar problems my whole life. I had horribly painful periods from the very first one I ever got. The PCOS diagnosis makes so much sense just from everything I've found online & it bugs me that he didn't check into it. His exact words were that it's difficult to diagnose, that the symptoms were subjective to each dr's interpretation, & that there is no definitive test for it. He was willing to prescribe Clomid any time I wanted it though. (knowing what i know now about clomid, i would never just take it w/o being monitored through the cycle)

The dr I've been seeing here is, again, a great OB/Gyn. He's a very caring & to the point person. He's the one who ordered the u/s last yr. (the cysts were big enough that they showed up on a chiropractic x-ray) He said that it most likely IS PCOS, but he wants the b/w before he'll prescribe anything. (i think we also want to rule out thyroid) He puposely did not put PCOS in my chart because I wasn't sure at the time if I was going to self-insure & he did not want to mess up anything with a pre-x. He has already told be that he'll order the tests to help me get a diag, but that he won't waste my time trying to treat it if it's beyond his expertise. He'll hand me a referral to a RE. I appreciate his honesty & candor. There are 2 other drs in the same practice though with more PCOS experience & I may switch.

I think they did do SOME b/w on the girl who I work with (she went to the same practice, diff dr). I was just amazed at how quickly she got a diag & treatment plan. If that's my issue, I could be on the very real side of being a mom by this time next yr. It was just so odd to think of it that way.

What's all this about making an appt before I get the ins cards? Can you do that? How do I know for sure who's in my network????

Kate- I e-mailed you. :) It seems I meet more people from MT now that I don't live there anymore!

Misty- Yes Ping is friendly! he's a little shy of strangers, but warms up pretty quickly. When are you going to come meet them? :)

Kitty- Oh goodness! We tried all different litters & even had a self-scooping box for a while. (he liked that, but it was the kind that takes crystals & the refills are expensive!) His fav litter is one that's make out wheat- SwheatScoop. It would almost even smell good if he ever buried! And we don't even TALK about moving the dang box, he'll poop there whether there's a box to catch it or not. (we just don't mess with his routine) Cats, we love 'em, even when we're not sure why!

Night y'all! Talk to you tomorrow! (i have thurs off!!!!)

18 days & counting down...

I signed up for ins last week, it kicks in on the 1st. C'mon 2010! Of course, not being ins did not stop me from getting sick last week. That was not fun. I had to leave work on Thurs, went to the Dr on Friday. He gave me an antibiotic & a really awesome cough syrup. So I did the logical thing & put myself into a 'mini coma' for a couple days. (i'm being sarcastic, i did not od or abuse any meds!)

Oh & AF showed up last night. So I'm crampy & had to go back to work today. That's not much fun. And I'm bleeding pretty heavily, AF sucks.

I'm feeling hopeful about getting a chance to get pg in 2010. There's a girl who I work with who finally went to her dr last Friday for what turned out to be PCOS & they were able to give her a diagnosis & will be starting her on meds soon. (she's not ttc to my knowledge). It made me start thinking about how relatively easy that was. Maybe I'm seeing the wrong dr. They didn't insist on a full blood panel for her. Do I really need one? Was my dr just being overly cautious? Should this not be this difficult? I asked my dr in MT about the possibility of PCOS & he "didn't want to jump to any rash diagnosis that would label me". Uhhh, ok, but he also told me that there weren't any tests for it. I think I have every stupid symptom for it! Sorry for the rant, I just want this fixed.

Anyway, good news, the biopsy results finally came back for my older sis, it's definitely not cancer. Mega relief! They have a follow up visit 1/5 to discuss what should be done about it.

Ok, I'm going to bed, I still have to do Ping's box. We've come to an agreement- I do his ox every night, without fail, & he won't poop on the carpet. He reserves the right to pee in the tub though. I really don't care about that, it doesn't stain anything. He's gorgeous, but high maintainance!
What did she call me???

Probably not cancer

The follow up with the ENT went well. He diagnosed it as some sort of tumor & did a biopsy to verify malignancy. BUT based on the CBC & CAT scan, they are thinking it's benign. Mega relief! Thank you again for all the thoughts, I'll KYP about the biopsy results. ;) (thanks for the definition!)

Sorry this is short, but I worked a long day & I am HUNGRY! DH did NOT make dinner like he said he was going to, so I'm headed off to the kitchen.

I may end the evening with killing our neighbors if the THUMPING bass doesn't stop. It's nearly 10pm, aren't there laws about subwoofers in apt buildings? I should not be feeling their (bad) choice in music!

Oh & :'^( It's the very last episode of Monk tonight. Sniffle, sniffle...

Nothing yet...

The ENT finally called back & the follow up visit is tomorrow at 4pm. Why can't they just cut out the middle man & let the radiologist tell you what they see? That seems kinda dumb to me. We still haven't told older sis what they're testing for. No sense what-so-ever in freaking her out until there are answers.

Thanks for all the thoughts, I appreciate it. Quick question Coco- try as I might, I can't think of what KUP means???

I'm working a long day tomorrow (10:30 am- 9:15pm), so I'd best get to bed. I'll post what we know when we know it!

Are there any of my readers who don't already read Jayme? If so, go give her a huge congrats. She deserves it & the extra sticky vibes can't hurt! :)

Testing being done on older sis.

I wish I had happier things to post about, sorry. My older sis told mom about an "extra bone" on her jaw last Sat. Mom checked it out & was worried about it being a tumor, so she brought sis into the dr today. Well, the dr doesn't like the feel of it & sent sis in for a CAT scan & a follow up with an ENT.

They are thinking possible cancer.

I know that there's no point into getting all worked up before we know anything, but I can't help but think of family history & be concerned. First, sis had Luekemia when she was 2. She's the sis who's mentally handicapped due to the treatments they gave her. Having had cancer before puts her at a higher risk for getting it again. Second, we're really concerned about the quick appearance of this growth. Sis really does not have a grasp on time or numbers in general, so it's hard to say exactly when she first noticed it. But, she's also a bit of a hypochondriac & not the type to notice something like that & not say something about it. Especially with where it is. Mom's youngest brother died of synovial sarcoma when he was 21. The first time he got it (age 15), it was a tumor in his leg that started as a golf ball sized lump (in his thigh) & 5 days later was fully wraped around his bone down to his knee. They removed his leg & part of his pelvic bone. It came back in his lungs shortly before he turned 21 & it was 8wks to the day from diagnosis to death. (in addition, both of our grandfathers died of cancer & i think a couple of great grandparents did too)

So now you understand why I'm trying not to get all worked up over this. Sis & I may not be "best of friends", but I love her & do not want to see her in pain. Nor do I want to see my parents relive the hell of having a child with cancer. We'll hopefully know more tomorrow & I'll let you know. For now I just needed to get it out. Thanks for listening.

Forced socializing is stupid

DH has been working night & day for the past couple of weeks, so tonight he had a few hrs between jobs & wanted to go for dinner. We went to a Japanese grill (Kan Pai). The kind where they cook the food right at your table. I love those places. The last time thet we went to one (Miyabi's), the food was so salty that I retained water for 3 days! Not tonight, this is the good one in town & I'll definitely go back.

The one thing that you need to remember about these places though is to bring your own group. If you go just as a couple, you'll get seated with people you don't know. Or like. Or feel like making pointless small talk with. It's not usually a problem for me to talk to strangers, but as you know, I'm not having a great day. And it didn't help that there was a family with small children, then a couple who are expecting in Feb. I don't think the couple was married either. Neither of them was wearing a ring. I checked her hand first & figured it may have been missing due to pg swelling, but he didn't have one on either. I know many of you will think that doesn't matter, but it always just rubs a little salt in the wound for me to see an unmarried pg couple.

Oh & I swear that there were 5 birthday groups there. Every few minutes with the birthday singing. Including the mother in the family at our table. Can't I just eat my dinner in peace?

The lesson learned here is that when I go back, I need to find enough people to fill the table so I don't have to feign interest in the lives of total strangers.

Officially 4 yrs

I'm not sure where the time has gone, but last week I turned 29. I'm accepting it with the grace that only age can provide. (that translates to smiling politely when people say anything about it & saving the foot-stomping "i don't wanna age" tantrum to when i'm home) With that also came the 4 yr mark of TTC. I remember how hopeful I was when we started. I knew that a year later I would be near a due date or caring for a new born.

I don't feel that anymore. I'm still interested in seeing a dr to find out if anything is fixable, but I'm not feeling the hopefulness anymore. I'd really like to, but I just can't take the hurt that goes with it. At what point does one get so used to disappointment that it seems normal?

I'll be glad for this year to be over. I hate the short days & the coldness of this season. I want to feel bright again instead of fighting to stay awake. (i swear i would hibernate if i could) I didn't end up making the cut for the mentoring program at work. Someone was supposed to tell me last week, but no one did. I went in bright & early yesterday only to find out that I wasn't supposed to be there. Then I still had to work the whole day taking calls. That sucked. I mentioned to my sis that 4yrs of IF teaches you how to take disappointment while still being hopeful that it'll happen in the future.

Sorry, I know this is just a slump, I'm trying to drag myself out of it. As lame as it seems, I may have to make a list of things that I'm looking forward to. But that's just the thing- I'm sick of looking forward to things, I want to have something happy NOW. Well, it's already afternoon & I'm still in my pjs, so maybe I'll feel better if I go shower. Talk to you all later.

Good randoms

Happy Tuesday to all! I have a couple of good updates & a few other randoms. I'll do bullets to simplify.

  • We went to my parents' for dinner on Sunday. There was another family from the cong who I've been wanting to get together with for a long time. I knew a little of their story & have been wanting to talk to her, I had no idea she'd be so open though! (they're in their 40's btw) She was in an abusive marriage for 12yrs that she finally got out of. Her husband now is an awesome, nice guy & they decided to start a family. She was already over 35 & then ended up with recurrent m/c. The details are triggery & I don't want to upset anyone. The end result is that they now have 2 precious girls. I felt SO much better just being able to talk to someone who really understands what it's like. She was telling me which drs around here were good, what tests to talk to them about, etc. She assured me that everything we discuss is confidential & that I can tell her when/if (she said when, i added the if) we do find out we're pg, I can tell her early on if I need someone to worry with me. Misty, when you come vist me for long enough to go to a meeting, you have to meet her!
  • I got to work yesterday & noticed an awesome schedule change- I made it into the Mentoring program!!! That means that I'll be working with newbies for one on one phone time before they go solo. I am super excited! I've wanted to do this since I got hired. It's not part of the permanent group, but it's a great priveledge for only being there for 5 months. And it comes with a sweet M-F 9-6 schedule. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at all nervous. There are times that I feel I barely have a clue & am still learning, but at least I can tell them from experience a few things NOT to do!
  • I am a dork. I saw an extended preview for the movie "Av.i.tar" & think it looks somewhat cool. I might even want to see it in the theater. DH thinks it looks lame though, so I may just wait for it to come out.
  • I started giving Skittles allergy pills. I don't know what could be flaring allergies in the fall, but she's had watery eyes too long for it to be a cold. I gave her 1/2 a Clortab last night & it seems to have helped. (is safe for cats, it's what mom's vet prescribed for Mikey)
  • I started crocheting a sweater last winter. Now I'm down to finishing the last sleeve. I pinned it together the other day to try it on, only to find out that it's now too big! I'm glad that I've lost the weight, but I spent a load on the yarn. So, we're going to have to find a way to take it in. Mom has a Surger & says it should be doable.

Ok, that's it for today. I'm going to go have lunch with mom. TTY all later! :)

Way behind in blog awards!

Before I post them though, I want to give a shout out to Hurricane Ida! Thank you for the extra wind & water that has provided DH with a couple of huge, good paying jobs this week! I know that probably sounds terrible, but it pays the bills. Aren't you glad I'm not married to a funeral director? (there are worse misfortunes to get excited about) Besides, that's why people & businesses pay for ins.

The chocolates I was telling about were bought at Costco. I've had similar ones before, but name-brand liquer makes a difference. My favs were the Grand Marnier & the Cointrou (both prob spelled wrong!)

OK, Blog awards! ---

Thank you Speechgirl for both of these! I feel the same about you!

First-

The You're a Gem! award is for the special bloggers who take the time not only to read my posts, but also leave comments, respond to comments, form blog friendships with and support others, answer blogger questions, etc. . . . the ones who are "a real gem" in the bloggy world! right on cue...

Yesterday, I nearly broke into tears over a standard work e-mail (i might end up with a 1/2 infraction for being late, even though it was the dang plane crash).

Today, I wanted to kill the girl next to me (she DID spray perfume on after getting to work).

This afternoon, spot showed up (then turned into full AF), explaining the reason for the above & the lousy backache. I'm sorry, I'm not inot this tonight. I don't have to work until tomorrow afternoon, so I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Amazing invention- Chocolates in the shape of small bottles filled with liquer. Good plan...

A very quick post

Sorry I've been MIA, this w/e was super busy! I've taken some extra hrs at work, trying to pad my check. I did NOT end up going to the house (apt) warming on Sat. I used work as my excuse. :)

Anyway, I've gotten some awards (thank you!) & will be posting them later. I worked noon-2 today & am going back for a 5-8pm shift (originally a day off, so i should at least throw some laundry in)

For now I wanted to share this story with you because it made me late for work today. >:^/ This story doesn't say it, but the REASON it crashed is that it ran.out.of.gas! Yeah. That's an issue if you're in the AIR! Anyway, no fatalities, everyone will be ok. But they've got the road shut down for the day & someone needs the "i'm a moron" award!

An award!

Ok, I'm posting this a day late! Sorry! Before I do though, mild freakout- DH texted me to tell me that a guy he works with is out with H1N1. This is not good, not good at all. I got a reg flu shot this yr, DH didn't. Neither one of us got the H1N1, I won't go into a lot of detail, but we don't agree with the way they are made & decided that we would not be getting them (even if they were available). Fortunately, it's not a guy DH sees regularly. It's not like I think getting H1N1 would kill either of us, just SO can't afford to miss the work time right now!

Onto the award-----

Rules:
1) Thank the person who gave you the award. List their blog and link to it.
2) Share "10 Honest Things" about yourself.
3) Present this award to 7 others whose blogs you find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged you.
4) Tell those 7 people they've been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving the award.

1) Thank you to Caitlin & Kitty for nominating me! :)

2) 10 honest things about me----

1. I've never been drunk.

2. I yell at other drivers in traffic (yes, I know they can't hear me)

3. I only like apples if they're sliced & "mushy" brands make me gag.

4. I am not an organized person. (i like to organize, but always seem to get off track)

5. I tend to expect perfection out of myself.

6. I re-evaluate IRL friendships from time to time. ( i don't feel guilty anymore for admitting that I want friendships to be a 2-way thing)

7. The 3 things I've always known I wanted are a piano, a horse, & a baby. So far, I have a piano.

8. Despite our differences (or maybe because of them), I'm glad I married my DH.

9. I don't do well with pets that are rodents or fish; they all end up dying on me! :^/

10. I've never been in the "popular group", so you ladies have done more for me than you know just by being a group where I can be me!

3) I nominate anyone who hasn't done this yet. (it is stinkin late & i need to go to sleep now) Yes, that really does mean you!

4) If you read me & you haven't done this- here's your notification of being nominated.

Feeling better

Thanks for the opinions & well wishes ladies! I finally woke up feeling better today. :) I'll agree with the common thought of "probably a cyst" . No, I wasn't going to see a dr unless it got much worse or got to where I couldn't use the bathroom. (i guess that would be covered under the 'much worse' category) I still feel the pain in my ovaries, but it's the "normal" pain & manageable.

The next part is a partially TRIGGY bit of a rant!

Ok, so walking around in the store today when I see this---

Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!?!?! They're going to be so insensitive to write off all the emotional & physical pain of IF as the solution to over population??? REALLY?!?!? Because the women I've met going through this totally don't deserve it! We're not trying to start a village with our DHs, just add a branch or two on the family tree. If it WAS the solution, perhaps it should strike women like this- (this story is mega-trigs, but all over the news. mom & i both want to take her other child away from her!)

http://www.wyff4.com/news/21499631/detail.html

Or, there are always the Darwin Awards. I'm sorry, I know that this following one probably has people who love him & it's evil to laugh about this, but here's my nomination for this year-

http://www.wyff4.com/news/21490636/detail.html

Clap, clap, clap. Way to go genius! Please just tell me that you took yourself out before you passed on one of your 3 IQ points to any offspring.

I really TRY not to get bitter over the whole thing, but there are stories like these from people with the ability to have children (just a guess on the second article, he seems the type to have at least one 'baby mama' somewhere) & some dipshit in an office wants to put out an article that IF may be the solution to overpopulation?!?!? Give me a break!

Ok, rant over. Mild mannered Steph coming back. :^)

Pelvic Pain (TMI)

So, I've been MIA again, sorry. I'm not feeling like myself lately. I've been extremely tired & rather cranky.

Part of it has been due to pain since Wed. I've got pelvic pain. It's about a constant 6 on the pain scale, at times shooting to about a dull 8. Here's the TMI part- at first I thought it was just a gas/constipation combo, so I've been taking Cor.re.ctol. That helped part of the problem, but the pain is still there. It hurts when I exert any kind of pressure in that area (including peeing). I've also had ovarian pain since about Fri/Sat & I know that we should be BDing, but with the pain, it's out of the question. If I had to describe it, I'd say it feels like someone someone blew up a balloon that's pressing on everything. Or like someone has tied all of my lower internal organs into a knot. And it's making my back hurt. Any ideas? I'm getting ready to try about anything!

Ok, I'll stop whining & go to bed now.

Whoops! A whole week!

Well, nearly. Sorry. I get all these things in my head that I need to blog about, then go blank with the screeen in front of me!

I was just about ok with goin to my friend's house warming, then I got the invitation. They registered for it! Seriously! I didn't know you could register for a house warming! Ok, here's why I feel like a crud for thinking anything bad about this- This is MAJOR TRIGS by the way- My friend (i've referred to her before as E) was married once before. They were going through some rough times & were seperated. During one of the w/e that he had their 3yr old daughter, he killed her, then committed suicide. It's actually amazing that E was able to pull herself together enough to be able to get remarried & have another child. She's a very sweet person & I know that there is not a day that this isn't all on her mind. So, I feel terrible for even thinking anything bad because she deserves any happiness that she can get. But still...

Anyway, I'm waiting for my mom to get here. We're going to Co.st.co for a few things. Fun, huh? Thanks for all the nice comments about the hair cut. It's a little more maintenance, but I'm still liking it.

E- yes, that was taken in my bathroom. We had our 2nd bath done in ducks in the house. This apt only has one bath, so I decided to keep them out & pack away the other stuff. I'll share more pics of it later, but here are 3-

The bathmat is friend to all, very dry & stable when stepping out of the shower. Also, great for those quick afternoon naps- (the first one is Buster, the second one is Skittles. T has taken to calling Skittles "boom-boom". She does NOT like that!)

Other ducks are slightly more threatening though, making Ping feel somewhat paranoid. (you can also see the nightlight in the top corner)

Keep in mind that this collection started a few years back, but it includes- a prince & princess duck, glow in the dark ducks, ducks with our names on them, a TY plush duck, a sign language "i love you" duck, a farmer duck, & others that I can't recall at the moment! It was supposed to be the "kids" bathroom.

On a totally different note

We cut off all my hair!!! :) I was tired of it, so mom offered to do a trim & at least shorten it up a bit. We were looking at it in the mirror & I was asking her to take out "this chunk here" & "that bit there". If I'd realized that I wanted that much off, I'd have ponytailed & donated it. I like the end result though--
Just kidding! Here's a real pic. Sorry, I should've done this AFTER makeup!
For the record, taking you own pic is not as easy as it sounds. I used to have a flip phone that had a "self pic" opt (the screen would turn so you could see). I kinda miss that.
Anyway, thank you all again for the support. I'm beginning to think that I should just be banned from posting on Mondays! Anyone ever feel like "Always an auntie, never a mom!" Sigh. I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday!

insert long line of cuss words here

TRIGS---

Do you ever get that feeling that someone is going to "announce" soon? Well, it came. The good thing is DH told me, I really couldn't have handled it from anyone else. His sister is pg, 8 wks. Of COURSE she is, why not? It's not like she's married or stable or anything. Well, now they're getting married. I'm so pissed. And she thinks that we're going to travel to St Louis to see it. That is so not going to happen. I'm literally teying my best to keep from crying right now seeing as I have to go to work. It is SO.NOT.FAIR!!!!!

I won't say I wasn't warned!

I finally ended up watching Marley & Me.

I didn't know it was actually possible to laugh & cry at the same time. I don't remember the last time my eyes were this swollen.

All in all though, I'd say watch it. Take out your contacts, expect your make up to run, have tissues on hand. And, if you deal with IF, you may cry at a few more places than others.

Did you see it? What did you think of it? Would you recommend it to others?

Remembering...

They only grew for a short time in my womb, but they've lived in my heart ever since.
(((((HUGS))))) to any of my other IF/blog sisters who know the pain of a child lost.
BTW- Did anyone else check out some of those pins or pendants? I rather like them & this one is my fav. I may get it.

Thank you & my apologies!

Thank you all for being so wonderful & understanding! I am so sorry for being that petty, AF hormones seem to kick me the hardest on the way out! I also talked to my mom this morning & she reminded me that their place may be cool & it's great that they've got a place of their own now (due to financial reasons, they'd been living with his mother for over a year). Which is true, I really don't begrudge them of that. She also pointed out that if they are living off of student loans, or beyond their means, it will catch up & not be good in the end. And (goodness, I love this woman!) she reminded me that she's proud of us for being reasonable & working so hard to pay off past debt & that when we do have our money saved up & are ready to get a house that it'll be even more worth it because it will be something we own.
I'm also feeling a little better about work. To be honest, I'd been freaking out because we've entered our "slow season" & my hours were trimmed back to 30-35/week. We had a team meeting today & our team leader assured us that it would only be a short time. Come Jan 2, we usually get slammed & may have opportunity for OT.

So, now that Christina's package arrived, I can finally share these cute pics!
Look, I'm crocheting with mommy! Yes, I can SEE the string! (he' s the one who's partially blind) Oh & the oat container is a trick I learned from gramma, it's not the most attractive, but it keeps the yarn from getting tangled!
We're safe from the yarn now! It won't be giving us any more problems!

I will test the blankie to make sure it's at the maximum softness for baby. Oh yes, it's good. Baby will snuggle well in this!

Ok, so now you know the secret on how I make them, Ping helps! LOL! I did wash it before I sent it. :)

"Apartment Envy"

Ok, this is poss trigs. I just thought I'd warn in advance. I should maybe also warn that it's late & I have not slept well for a couple nights due to DH snoring & early morning trash pick up. This post also shows, beyond any doubt, that I am a really lousy friend. I'm sorry, maybe someone could help explain why I feel this way & I could get over it?

So yesterday was my day off & I think I should've gotten some me time to do stuff that needed to be done. Well, not really. My parents are out of town & my older sis needed to run some errands. My problem was totally not with her though, because we actually had fun. An errand that got added to my list is what's pissing me off.

My friend E & her hubby moved into an apt a few weeks ago. It happened to be the same day as the race, which was my excuse for not helping. I was glad to have the excuse though. These were a few of the chumps who promised to help us move last Nov & never showed up! (actually, no one showed up to help us!) At least they moved into a bldg with an elevator. So, she bought this fabric & somehow my mom got the job of turning it into a curtain (knowing mom, she volunteered). Well, mom got it done before they left & E decided that I could drop it off at her place as long as I was out running errands. OK, this shouldn't really be a problem, right? She's my friend.

Except that they live ALLLL the way across town & I was getting lost trying to get to this place I'd never been to. Oh & have I mentioned yet that yesterday was cold & rainy? We finally get there & it turns out to be this totally awesome converted old factory. It reminded me of something straight off of Friends, really trendy with super high ceilings & exposed brick walls, only improved by the right lighting & a cat sitting in the windowsill. It's the kind of place that DH would love. The kind of place that I always dreamed of getting with a couple of girl friends if I'd stayed single. The kind of place that we've discussed getting whenever we've had the "what if we stay child free" discussion. The place that we've decided is just not well suited to children when we realized that having a family is more important.

And they have it. AND a 3yr old. (who, by the way, fell & smacked his lip on the concrete floor in the short time we were there.) And I. don't. get. it. He works part time & goes to school. She doesn't work, except for a couple house cleaning jobs. HOW, with a child, do they afford this place? It's at least 2x what DH & I are paying here! Ok, sure, we could get a more expensive place, but I'm trying to pay off a few things & get money saved up for a house. It just pisses me off that we work so hard for everything we have, when others (simply by reproducing) qualify for better things!

I guess it wouldn't even piss me off so badly except for her attitude about it. I brought over the curtain, but forgot the curtain rod (mom had it for the size or whatever). No "thanks", just "awww, i really wanted to get that hung today". She texted me TWICE about it today! Yeah, some of us work full time! If it's really that big of a deal, she could call my older sis & drive over to my parent's house to get the darn thing! (sis lives in a basement apt there). AND she had the nerve to COMPLAIN about the things that make that place truely cool, such as the painted concrete floor. ("i can't believe what a sloppy job they did on this!" it's supposed to look like that!) AAANND some other friends are throwing them a house warming party! Just further proving that I am NOT a "part of the group" because (omg, i am soo sorry for how petty this sounds) no one threw us one! I was told about it a couple days too late for me to request the time off work & I'm really not even sure if I care if I don't go.

Ok & in typing this all out, I feel like a totally shallow whiney crud, absolute heel of a friend. But, for crying out loud, when is it EVER going to be my turn for someone to celebrate something for me? Why do some people get every little thing in life & have it celebrated while I get stuck working FT to make ends meet & stuck in IF land??? If I can't have kids, shouldn't I at least have more money & cooler stuff??? Or, please, could I have better attitude so that it doesn't bother me so badly? What kind of horrible person am I?

AF induced crabbiness

Don't say I didn't warn you! So I'm actually on CD2 now & the cramps are manageable. I ended up calling in sick to work yesterday. I was dressed & on my way in. Every road bump I was going over hurt & I just started crying. That's not good for someone who has to deal with people all day! I always feel like such a crud for calling in. I'm not an irresponsible person who's blowing off a Friday to go get drunk & party! I took a Dar.vo.cet & slept on the couch all evening.

So here's my crabbiness- I know that several of us left the We.bM.D board because we felt like we didn't belong. But what the heck for? WE were there first! It ticks me off to think that some random, hyper-sensitive, over-bossy control freaks are being mean to other women in the same boat! So why don't we take it back over & give them what's what! Seriously? You want to get crabby because you've been trying 16 months & someone only trying for 13 used a phrase you don't like? Well, try 4 years sister! THEN we can discuss your right to be a b**ch! If I was still at my other job where I could surf during down time, I totally would do that too!

Ok, I'm going to go have some coffee & get out of here in enough time to stop for some Mi.do.l. I have a feeling I shouldn't be on Dar.vo.cet at work.

Meeting Misty IRL!

Sorry this took so long to post. I was going to do it this morning before work, but the maintenance guy showed up a day early! At least I have a new garbage disposal.

All righty, this w/e was awesome!!! I had a hard time focusing on my calls for those lousy 3hrs at work, but it went fast. Then I hit the road. It was a nice day out for driving. I borrowed mom's GPS & the thing kept trying to get me lost. I stayed on the interstates & it was literally trying to get me to do a u-turn until I was a couple blocks from Misty's house. Then I asked it for navigating & got this message - "You are near your destination". What?!?! No wonder they give them female voices, it's may as well have said "oh no, you didn't listen to me. if you're so smart find it yourself!" Thanks to Misty & the miracle of cell phones, I got there! I got a welcome, then a long awaited HUG! -
Her "furry welcoming comittee" was also there to meet, greet, & check out my shoes. Here's Tux, you would not believe how many tries it took to get him to look at me!
When Gizmo FINALLY decided that my shoes were ok, he spent the rest of the day trying to trick anyone into letting him ooouuuuttt!
She really didn't half starve me, I was fine. Besides, she makes a really good amaretto sour! Dinner was awesome. (Misty, please repost that recipe so i can make it for dad & Travis) Here's Chris, helping her peel potatoes (idk if he usually helps, or if it's because i was there) -
We decided a couple times over the w/e that our DHs may just be twins seperated at birth (except that Travis is older!) They really have a lot of odd things in common. As far as looks, Chris actually reminds me of DH's brother. So we all stayed up way late Saturday & had a blast!

On Sunday, we went out for my coffee. I'm not just a coffee drinker, it's more like "instant human, just add coffee". I feel bad that Chris didn't get his bagel, but this was so fun. The water actually feels "soft", I'm sure it's the salt. It was warm too. :) -
Misty looks really happy & natural in this pic. I love it! -
The dock was damp by the way & we were both still basically in pajamas! After we went back to her house & showered, we headed to the beach. I love the ocean, I would live on the ocean if I could. Here are some pics from the beach-

Fortunately, we can count on our feet not to make any weird faces! -
I saw some awesome wild life! I saw the fin of a dolphin, I wish I'd seen more of it. The cranes are also photo shy, I saw them, but not where I could pull over to take pics (there are no shoulders on the bridge!) Here are the ones I was quick enough to photograph-

A little turtle, who ducked right back under the water (thanks to the kids who also saw it & made a lot of noise!)-Seagulls at the beach- A seagull on the dock. There are a lot of them in this area!-
This one is hard to see, but it's a hummingbird moth. It was so cool! The one I saw was very blue & so pretty. I can zoom in on it with my phone, but I don't know how to save & share it. It's towards the bottom, in the middle.

This bird lives at the stores & didn't want to talk to us. Though I did hear that it terrorizes some people.-
Oh look! A dolphin! j/k, lol! -

They have odd building codes there. It's a good thing everything is labeled, or it would all look the same. Here's what I mean (the last one is the other place Misty works)-

Ok, this is long enough. So here are two more super awesome pics. Enjoy! -

Misty, Thank you so much again for letting me stay with you! It was great! :) (pass that on to Chris as well!) I'm excited about you coming back through this way!

"Imitation Cool Whip"

As I think you all know, my older sister is mentally handicapped. It has it's frustrating moments, but also some pretty funny ones. (please don't crucify me or lable me as 'evil', you have to laugh at some things to keep from going crazy over them!)

So this week, Mom had Sis' shopping list & noticed "heavy cream" on it. I think mom forgot it while she was at the store, so she asked sis what it was needed for (to see if she needed to run back out, or if something could be sub'd). Sis goes "oh, it's no big deal, I wanted it for a dessert. I learned how to make imitation cool whip. It's easy, you just whip the cream with some sugar." Mom explained that that's actually REAL whipped cream & Cool Whip is a lower fat/calorie version of it.

Ok, so I'll be leaving tomorrow after work. I'm so excited to meet Misty! Here's a question for everyone while I'm gone- What are the 'common words' found in your kitchen? I got to looking around & realized that mine include- All Natural, Gluten-Free, Organic, Soy, Whole Grain, High Fiber, Low Fat, No Trans-Fats, & No Sugar Added. Fun huh? You'd think I'd be way smaller than I am. I guess it's really that I need to get my butt moving!

I hope all y'all have a great w/e! I'll post pics! :)

I should be napping!

I know 2 am will come very early. I don't think DH even has his stuff packed yet! I think it's all set out, but not IN the suitcase! I am doing a lot of eyerolling here. I make a list & then I check things off, then I double check the list. What about you? Are you a planner, or last minute packer?

When we get back tomorrow, mom said she'd hang out with me & help me get some things organized around my house. They general disarray is beginning to drive me batty, but I tend to get side tracked. So, she's going to help me stay on track. :)

In 72 hrs, I'll be at Misty's house! :^D I am sooo excited! I'll have difficulty getting through work Fri & Sat. Interesting thing about time. It flies when we're having fun, but drags when we're expecting something.

Update: apparently he IS packed. I hope so since he has on the tv now. F.ood Ne.two.rk, M.an v.rs Fo.od. They're talking about some bacon cheeseburger that's served on a Kri.spy Kr.ee.me that's been cut in 1/2 & grilled. Gross! They're saying that it's a lot like a Mo.nte Cr.ist.o. Maybe, but still sounds gross.

ALRIGHT! I'm clearly babbling now, so I'm going to go take a nap. Talk to you ladies tomorrow!

I survived Monday!

Really, I had my doubts there for a while! I had to try 4 computers at work yesterday until I found one that worked, so I was late clocking in. Then, my first 5-6 calls were women (they are the worst) who snapped at me, then hung up once they got the info they wanted. (hanging up is mean because that leaves me having to finish up notes & process the call before the next one comes in. with high call volume, sometimes that means 3-5 seconds) The calls got a little better throughout the day. But really, it was the 28th, who calls THREE DAYS before they need to be out of their place? Then you're going to yell at me because we don't have exactly what you want? PLAN AHEAD! My mom came up with a saying "your failure to plan does not constitute our emergency".

Anyway, DH is leaving for MT on Thurs. He's excited about going to see his family & I know they'll be happy to have him there. I'm a little bummed to not go, but not as bad as you'd think. I wish they'd flown him from here though. We have to leave here at 2 am to get him to Atl on time!

I've got my own fun plans for this w/e--- I'm going to get to meet Misty!!! I'm driving down on Sat after work (i only work from 8:30-11:15 that day). I'll have to come back home on Sunday, but it'll be soooo fun! Misty wasn't kidding about the hoops. I understand the dangers of meeting people online, but c'mon! How about a vote? Are either one of us a danger? I vote no, we're both very normal people who have a personal understanding of a pretty crappy medical problem (IF). My DH wasn't even the difficult one for me to deal with, it was a concerned "friend". I told him that his concerns were noted. (that probably sounds mean, it's one of those friends who doesn't really know me, or the whole story)

My mom is as excited as we are. She's even loaning me the gps & a sat radio, & checking on my cats while I'm gone. :)

Ok, time to get DH up. There are things that need to be done today. By the way, thanks for the comments on the race. As you can see from the last pic, my hair is getting boring. I don't like it too short, but any ideas? I usually just get layers cut into it.

Check your boobies!

Did that get everyone's attention? Lol! The Race was so fun today! It was just amazing to see so many people there. There were 5,000 who showed up. The awesome thing about that it that it was RAINING! Ok, more of a mist, but cloudy, wet, & cold anyway. There was $600,000. total raised.

It was truely touching to see the brave survivors & those who saw them through it. There were also plenty of names of those who fought & lost. :'( There were women, men, young, old, & several different races. (why is it that bad things in life have such a connecting force?) Despite the rain, there was no lack of smiles & cheering. And plenty of tears. There was even support from those who weren't participating. Part of the race took us past a road with traffic & there were plenty of horns, waves, & airhorns.

I did the 5K & finished in 1hr, 4mins. I'm not a professional, so I didn't think that was too bad. I finished & I'm proud of myself for that. Mom & DH both want to do it with me next year. :) I would encourage anyone to do it & will do it again next year if I can. (i'll need toe separating socks though, I blister quickly!)

Keep in mind that your best defence is early detection. Please do your monthly exams, see your dr yearly, start getting mamograms at 35, & encourage all the women you love to do the same. (like i'm doing now!)

Here are some pics of the day---

This was not my team's tent, but it was my fav. The bras were just really cute!
Here I am, ready to race. I hate the stupid blemish on my chin! >:^/
This shirt made me tear up. Talk about the important things in life. Suddenly, that blemish isn't seeming like such a big deal!

This was by far not the only dog there! There had a Paws for Pink registration that I thought was really cool. Her name is Molly, I don't know her people, but I thought her outfit was too cute. The cool thing is that the volunteers put bowls of water out for them at our 1/2 way water station. Made me wish I'd borrowed someone's dog. I can't even imagine taking one of the cats to that!

These are the Ta.Ta Que.e.ns. I think they're cool, so I put the link to their site. If I'd thought that through, I'd have joined them for that photo.

I still had to work today. From 3-9pm. I was pleasently surprised when I came home & found that DH got me these. (they're good!) He went to a bakery that does gluten & dairy free items & talked the woman into making them (GF is special order on the w/e). Isn't he a honey? :)

So here I am at the end of a long, yet satisfying, day. (i am going to sleep well tonight!) Sorry I look like crap. I don't think my mascara is even on anymore! I'll post a good pic of me one of these days!
Remember- CHECK YOUR BOOBIES!!! :o)

They shot me!

Flu shots don't really hurt. But I did have s/e! My arm was tingly right away, they said that was normal. The rest prob was too, but not fun. I had a headache, my face was flushed & warm, & I had a very hard time controlling my blood sugar today.

It seems to have passed, but I'm feeling worn out. I'm going to bed early so I can get up for the Race tomorrow. I'm super excited about that! I'll try to pos a pic of me sporting my pink! :)

Night ladies, I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

Disclaimers..

Has anyone else ever noticed how many there are? I was listening to a cell phone comercial thins morning. Basically, it said at the end of it that the phone might not work where you want it to & if it does, it'll probably cost more. If you look at car ads, there's the price they want to lure you in with, then the little print that says it's 3x that much as shown. Same with weight loss ads, they have these people rejoicing over how much they loss, then at the bottom "results not typical". I use a disclaimer with every call at work. I say "pricing & availabilty changes quickly". People still don't "get it" though & like to throw fits when things aren't exactly what they heard at the time that they tuned out. Sigh. Anyway, what's your favorite disclaimer?

Here's my other disclaimer & if anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know! I keep finding ads on my blog! I don't want them there & I'm not putting them there. I keep telling it to take them off. Is there a way to permanently disable that?

And a "news" story that just shows how unfair the whole reproduction thing is. Check this out. What are the chances? And, more importantly, why not me? It's not fair.

So anyway, I've been staying up wat too late all week. I'm going ot bed at a reasonable time tonight!

Decoding "male speak"

Morning! It's my day off & I should totally be cleaning, but I feel so disconnected from you all lately. :)

So, the other night, DH says "you should see E & get your hair colored again soon". I said "I know it's getting long, but does it look that bad? Is it getting dull?" He says "no, I just know how much you like having it done & it's been a while since you've done anything for you". Hmmm, ok. I agree it needs to be done, but he's never the one to suggest it. He's usually the one to 'ok, whatever' me when I say I'm getting it done. So either it's looking bad enough for him to notice (this summer went quickly, it's been 4 months since i had it colored!). Or he's feeling guilty because he's going to see his family next week & I'm not going with. Either way, I'll be getting it done soon. E is moving this w/e, but I'll see when she's unpacked.

Oh, it's the 22nd, so I'm officially 1/2 way to getting ins! :) I'm getting nervous & excited. I've sort of "chilled" about TTC in the meantime. Ok, I know it could still happen, but let's be realistic. If it hasn't happened in the past 4yrs, it's not likely to happen in the next 3 months on it's own. So, I may as well enjoy FD as that while we can. I'm nervous about what all it'll take. Best case scenario- the SA will be good, my tubes will be clear & Cl.om.id or Fe.me.ra will work. It's odd, I say that like those steps are no big deal. In the IF world, that would be getting off easy. But, it's still quite a bit more than most have to do to get pg!

I've been asked about the injury from the fall. I'm better (thanks for asking!). The bruise is mostly gone, though the area is still a little tender. TMI- we've bd'd a couple times & it's fine depending on the position. My knee is giving me more hassle than it's worth! I'm ok for walking, stairs are still an issue & I'm not too fast with side movement. Kneeling/crouching hurts & I realized the other day at the store how many things I buy that are on the bottom shelf.

Ok, this is irritating. I think of all these great subjects for posts, then I do post & can't think of a thing! I guess I better go clean the house now. I'll chat with you later! :)
