Nancy inspired this with her salt story! I will tell you about oregeno.
I had a guy friend who was definitely a BAD influence. He was not a boyfriend, though I would've done just about anything for him. This is the friend who taught us (little sis & me) how to light our fingers on fire by spraying them w/hairspray. And that you can un-crush an aluminum can with a Blackcat (fire cracker).
One day, he got the idea that it's time for me to learn how to blow smoke rings. There's no way I'd ever put a cigarette in my mouth & I think it may have even been before he started smoking them.
We start by rolling just regular paper to try to inhale the smoke. That burns too quickly. What can we put in the rolls to imitate the filling???
OREGENO!!! Yup, out the spice rack & into the paper it goes. (we're still talking about regular notebook paper here)
Turns out I have ~NO~ ability to blow any kind of smoke rings. I did choke myself several times though. The house ended up smelling like oregeno which dad questioned when he got home (we might have made spaghetti to cover it up). Oh & I couldn't stand the smell of it for a few months after that!
Not exactly bada**, but pretty stupid nonetheless.

Good Morning!
I have a ton of stuff to catch up about. I'll try to be brief, but apologize if this gets long.
First I'll get the "minor stuff" out of the way.- I got my hair done yesterday, it really needed it! Looks so good, she did a GREAT job on the color! Also, it's rainy today. Not my fav, but it's been in the 80s-90s for a wk & I'm sure we need it.
Other stuff-
I haven't heard anything more from my boss about this job. I was kinda laying low for a couple wks, but if he doesn't say anything by the time I leave on Sat, I will have to get serious about finding something else. I'm starting to get a sick feeling in my stomach over the whole thing & that's not good. I've also had a hard time sleeping the last few nights. The other guy's last day is tomorrow & I just don't know what's happening on Monday! UGH!
Update as of 1pm- boss came in, other guy at dr. Huge relief- he wants me back at full time as of Monday! He didn't say anything about higher pay, but I'll at least get what I had. I think we'll be able to recover from my 2 wks of bad paychecks reletively soon. I'm stealing a couple of Dot's ideas!
I'm getting uptight about the MT trip. We'll be there in 3wks. First of all, I really hate flying. I just do. Also, I'm happy to see the family, but there will be a lot of people from my past that I'd rather not see. I was talking to E as she was doing my hair yesterday. She asked how bad it could be & so I told her about my ex-fiancee & the way that he chose to break up. She agrees that seeing him would make me want to vomit. Of course, there's also "the kids questions" to look forward to. Specifically "do you have" & "why not". Blah, I hate those. I asked E yesterday to cut my hair down to about an inch long & color it pink to take the focus off my uterus. She laughed but didn't think it would work. I gotta admit that I'm also spazzing out a bit about money. The cut in my hours came at a lousy time! It freaks me out to be looking for a job this close to leaving too! We have the money for the trip in savings, but we can't afford for DH to have even one low check between now & when we go.
My little sis- I think I may have mentioned that she's going through a very hard time lately. (full details with held to protect her privacy) Her husband has been working out of town for over a yr straight now. And before that, there was about 1 1/2 yrs of off & on out of town. She's 25 & they've been married for 7 yrs. She didn't get married to be alone all the time. Well, the whole thing with him caused her to start questioning everything in life, then she had a total breakdown 2 months ago. I've been quite worried about her for some time now. She went out of town this past w/e & seems to be doing a bit better. She started a new job yesterday, at a gas station. She's honestly over-qualified, but says it gives her something to do w/o a lot of stress or pressure. I just want this to be a real turning point for her, not just a high before a crash.
Ok, I feel a little better. I wish I could run out of here today & just walk until my head feels clear! Or, just scream at the top of my lungs. Would people think I'm crazy if I do that?
Thanks for listening if you got through this. (((HUGS))) to all y'all! &

YUM Brownies!!!!
Dot & Sherry- You gotta try these! :) And anyone else looking for some "healthier" brownies. I had really been missing brownies. I have a really positive outlook on the dietary changes I'm doing. It's giving me a chance to get creative & try new things. And, well, I have hope again of feeling better someday. But, a craving is a craving! So here's the recipe I found & tried. Even dad & DH liked them!
Ingredients:
*1/4 cup light olive oil
*1 cup sugar (i used 3/4 cup agave)
*2 eggs
*1.5 tsp real vanilla extract
*3/4 cup flour (for gluten-free use brown or white rice flour)
*1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
*1/4 tsp salt
*1/2 cup flaked coconut (i used unsweetened, takes some searching to find. you can use 2 heaping Tbsp of peanut butter if you don't like coconut)
*1/4 to 1/2 cup dairy free semi-sweet dark chocolate chips
*1 Tbsp sugar (optional; i didn't use it)
*1/4 cup chopped walnuts (i used pecans)
Directions:
Grease 8x8 inch baking pan. Combine oil, sugar, & vanilla. Beat in eggs. Add flour, cocoa, & salt. Stir until combined. Stir in coconut. Spread batter in the pan. Sprinkle remaining ingredients over the top. Bake at 350* for 25 to 35 minutes. Servings depend on how bad your craving got before you made them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a ton of other stuff to talk about, but I'm recovering from a nasty headache today & not feeling real chatty. Sorry. Hoping to get some time tomorrow to catch up.
I should follow my bedtime! (poll)
I have been so bad this wk! I'm usually in bed by 10:30-11, sometimes even by 10. This wk, I've been stupidly staying up until 12-1. Sunday night, I stayed up until DH got home at 1:45. I really gotta nip this in the bud! If I get hired somewhere else, or am asked to take over more duties here, it'll be harder the longer this goes on!
Speaking of sleep, here's a poll-
1- What time do you usually go to bed?
2- How many pillows do you sleep with?
3- Lingerie or t-shirts?
4- Bedtime snack?
5- Any "must do" bedtime routine?
6- Pets on the bed?
7- Do you fall aleep w/the tv on?
8- Total darkness, or nightlight?
9- Silence or noise machine?
10- Are you a light or heavy sleeper?
optional- Do you or DH snore?
I'll put my answers in the comments! Have a great Friday, the w/e is almost here!
Zombie Chicken Award
I LOVE the name of this award! (i have a really old Garfield cartoon that involves the wrath of a rubber chicken. what is it about chickens that's so funny?) I'm honored to have received it from Dot! So, here it is-
"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…"
I nominate- This is hard, so many of you deserve it! I second Dot's other two nominees (Sherry & Misty). I also second Sherry's nominees (Jen, Margriet, & Jayme [i don't know who Tammy is, but if Sherry says she deserves it, she does]) Here are a couple ladies who I don't think have been nominated yet-
1. Richelle
2. Christina
3. Katie
& 4. Allison (post more! I love reading you!)
I've gone Loppy...
Now this is just not fair. Oh & a TMI disclaimer, cause it is..... Anyway, my bbs have gone lop-sided! WTH??? My right one is now noticibly smaller than the left. >:^/ The left one has kinda always been the instigator of everything, so I'm assuming that she's just being a stubborn show off. DH thinks it's because I'm right-handed & maybe I need to develope the muscles on the left side more. Whatever the reason, they better get it together & agree on a size pretty quickly!
On a totally different subject- I spent the morning w/my mom & grandmother. Mom usually runs her mother on errands on Weds & I decided to tag along for mom's sanity. My grandmother commented on how nice it is to spend time with the family. It was so odd though. I don't feel any "family connection" towards her. I feel more of a connection towards "grandparents" who I'm not actually related to than I do towards her. (i have several 'adopted' grandparents) It's really sad that she spent so much of her life alienating everyone. I feel bad for her, but it doesn't make me feel any closer to her.
The second part of that is really more of an observation, not to make anyone feel bad for me. If you want to feel bad for me, it should def be for the bb lopping!
Mom has been taking pics of the spring blooms. We took some today of a field of blue flowers that looked like a lake! Mom will be uploading them soon & I want to post a couple here. Since I'm posting from my home lap top though, here are a few you may enjoy---
This is Martini. It's a pretty good pic of the coloring on his back that gave him his name. That is a normal pose for him, he says it's comfy.
This is DH, it was taken during the move out here & we'd all gone a little nuts from being confined in the car for so long!
This is DH picking a gold tigers nose in Vegas. It was taken Sept of 06. It's hard to get a good pic of him cause he likes to goof off.
This one was also taken in Vegas, same trip. I asked him to puh-lease just stand nicely so I could get a good shot! I think he looks pretty good! (i should point out that he's lost about 60lbs since we've moved here! i'll post a newer pic when i get one, so proud of him! i've always thought he was cute either way though!)
Over two hours!!!
That's how long it took me to get through all the posts I've missed over the last couple days! Yeesh! I've checked a couple random sites too. (distract much? oh! look, a squirrell! lol!)
By the way, I curbed my brownie craving (thanks for that Richelle!) w/a slice of gluten-free banana bread (thanks again for that Sherry!)! Oh & if you've never tried it, Be.tte.rTh.anS.ou.rCr.eam (tofutti) is AWESOME! DH made chili tonight & he put that on mine, I had to double check that he did the right one. Along those lines- Mega woohoo! DH has decided to be supportive of this & is rethinking how he cooks & what to put in things. :^D Even bigger mega-woohoo- I think some of my skin conditions are starting to clear up. I've never had acne, but I've had dry skin & exzema for as long as I can remember. I also get crazy rashes that look like my skin is trying to fall off. Includidng on my scalp, large scabs that look horrible. I've tried every (otc) cream, lotion, shampoo, powder, etc that exists & nothing ever seems to fully clear anything up. Well, it's looking much better this week. Sorry, that's way TMI, but I'm stinkin excited about it!
A word now on ordering carpet- Carpet comes either 12 or 15' wide. That's just how it is. So, if your room demensions are 10.5' x 16.5', I'm ordering a 12' x 16.5'. You will be paying for a 12 x 16.5', even though there will be about 18" of waste. That's how it works. With me so far? Ok, now, the manufacturers are not going to change the size they make carpet in, so when you throw in a 4.5' x 4.5' hall area, I have to order that as a 12 x 4.5'. Yes, you will have a big piece left over. I suggest getting it bound & using it as an area rug. Now, here's the kicker: If you order this as the same carpet, I will order a 12 x 21, that's 252 square feet of carpet. The invoice will show 252 sf for both pad & labor. Yes, we know that there's 32 sf that aren't really being installed, but that's how it goes. It's industry standard & we are not trying to rip you off. If it seems unfair, skip the hallway; it's really a stupid place to put the carpet, that area should have the same type of flooring as the room that doesn't close off from it by shutting a door.
If only I coulda been that blunt about it to the woman I was talking to earlier. I came in on a DAY OFF to measure her room & put together the quote! Grrr! I also don't like her on priciple. This rm is being done up for the little girl that she's sure she'll have, even though she's not pg. (she has a 1yr old son & is sure that she'll have a girl soon) She's definitely a fertile! (my little sis also doesn't like her on principle. the woman has a perfect little house & perfect little marriage. families are as hard for one contemplating divorce as they are for an IFer. we're a great pair! )
So now it's really late, I'm going to log off & go to bed. Nighty-night!
Bored, BORED!!!
Sorry! It's a "not much going on" Saturday. I think we're doing fun stuff later, but right now I'm at work. And it seems as though no one is shopping for flooring today. I ordered a couple of banners yesterday. Depending on how long they take, next Sat may be busier.
I did bring along my new book. I apologize in advance to those who have been treating their PCOS for years & are thinking "yes Steph, we know all this. About time you figure it out, now please shut up!" But this is just so cool! Some of the things I've been dealing with & feeling for years are finally explained. One of the most frustrating is the 'catch 22' of weight loss. It is one of the best things for PCOS, but also one of the hardest. I'm learning that it's not so much what we eat, but how our bodies process it. Way beyond PCOS effects on fertility, it's almost as though our bodies are wired completely differently. I'm finding it totally fascinating. My little sis says that I am going to turn into a Hippie. I say, except for patchouli oil & the non-showering thing, maybe they're onto something!
Over the w/e, I need to get myself ready to go job-hunting on Mon & Tues. I know that I may have a great prospect here if the other guy is gone soon, but I don't believe in putting all my eggs in one basket. I still do have an ultimate goal of getting into some form of healthcare. I'm even starting to rethink my "eww factor" & wondering if I could be a CNA or something. (i still don't think i could handle working in a nursing home though)
I get so many crazy ideas that go through my head! This morning, I was thinking of an outline for a book that would be fun to write. A guide for our friends & family on what IF is about & how they can be supportive w/o making us feel worse. I'd want to tell some of the stories of the wonderful women I've met (names & details changed). My first concern would be to not upset any of you though. Not sure if I'd need something signed for legal purposes. I'd donate a large sum of any proceeds to some sort of IF research or financial assistance for couples going through IF. Of course, I also have no idea how to get something like that published. Or read! Hmmmm...
Anyhew! I'm gonna get going for today. Have a great wekend Y'all! =^D
Dr App. & IT CAME!
Went fine. He's a little "wham-bam-thank you ma'am". But it's not a date, so I don't mind if they're quick. His hands were freezing! A bit funny- last wk, they called & asked if I could do 1:30 instead of 3:30. Then yesterday he called me personally to ask if I could come in the morning as I was his latest app & he had some "personal errands" to do in the afternoon. So we moved it up to 12. I was 5 mins late & still got out of there by 12:40. (his all important app involved a sunny day & a tee time! lol!)
He said everything "looks healthy" & I've never had an abnormal pap, so he doesn't expect this one to be. I told them that we're TAB from TTC & that I'm going gluten & dairy-free (he's fine w/that). He says, when I'm ready, his plan of attack would be SA for Travis, then PCOS blood panel for me (they won't give clomid w/o one), then HSG, then a few months of Clomid. If he finds anything on any of those tests that is out of his area, he will not hesitate to send me to someone else. I feel good about that.
Good news- MY BOOK CAME!!! It's amazing how much info is in it! I was skimming last night, I plan on starting at the beginning this w/e. It's just amazing. I've never met this Dr, but the way it's written- wow! She definitely has a clear grasp on PCOS & what it's like. I may have just been tired, but I had tears in my eyes from how well she "gets it".
Other news- The owner of the store was here on Wed while the other guy was out. He wanted to talk to me privately. He starts with "Do you like working here?". I explained that when there's stuff to do & customers to help, I like it & have fun. I'm not so crazy about how slow we've been. I don't like being bored & it makes me feel dishonest for getting a paycheck. I told him that I don't think we're done yet though. I truly think that there is more business out there & we can get some of it. What he wants is the other guy gone. (have i ever mentioned that they're b.i.l.s?) He is planning on getting more involved w/his business & knowing what's going on around here. He said he really wants the PT thing to be temp & asked if I'd be interested in coming back FT at a higher pay rate.
So, hmmm. Dh is totally excited about this, thinks it would be great. (one of the best perks that i have here is that the owner's mom is a JW, so even though he's not, he has a lot of respect for us & is very accomodating w/time off for religious services) I'm still going to go out Mon & Tues to look & see what's out there, but if it's not too long at PT (there's only so much i can cut w/the bills) I may be interested in that.
Ok, whoops, this is a mini-book. Thanks if you got through it! I hope everyone has a great Friday!
PS- If any of you name your kids after beer, you'll be sure to meet me! I will come there, slap you, & white it out on the birth certificate!
He said everything "looks healthy" & I've never had an abnormal pap, so he doesn't expect this one to be. I told them that we're TAB from TTC & that I'm going gluten & dairy-free (he's fine w/that). He says, when I'm ready, his plan of attack would be SA for Travis, then PCOS blood panel for me (they won't give clomid w/o one), then HSG, then a few months of Clomid. If he finds anything on any of those tests that is out of his area, he will not hesitate to send me to someone else. I feel good about that.
Good news- MY BOOK CAME!!! It's amazing how much info is in it! I was skimming last night, I plan on starting at the beginning this w/e. It's just amazing. I've never met this Dr, but the way it's written- wow! She definitely has a clear grasp on PCOS & what it's like. I may have just been tired, but I had tears in my eyes from how well she "gets it".
Other news- The owner of the store was here on Wed while the other guy was out. He wanted to talk to me privately. He starts with "Do you like working here?". I explained that when there's stuff to do & customers to help, I like it & have fun. I'm not so crazy about how slow we've been. Gameplan
Ok, feeling better about this today. I knew the business was not doing well, but I was under the impression that the owner was going to give it 3 more months while we tried a couple new tactics. For the record, I think this is a bad season to scale down. There are 2 very large projects coming up & I don't see how he's going to handle it on his own. But, I guess that's not my concern. I'll do my job to the best of my ability until I find something else. And I will hit the pavement on Mon & keep a positive attitude about getting something soon. (people want to hire perky people, right? well, other than a funeral home, but i don't think i'll be applying to those just yet!)
Nancy- I don't know if you read this regularly. What do you do at Vzn? Do you know any hiring mngrs in the SC area? I don't know if there's anything you can do to help, but I really appreciate the offer, it means a lot to me. :^) If you have time, e-mail me at my_teffieAThotmailDOTcom.
Ok, Either I have a BUNCH of spiders hanging out near my desk, or ONE crazy spider who's messing w/my head! I don't really mind spiders, but they tend to bite.....Ok, I just killed one, now I'll find out if there are more. Sorry, I know that's totally not Zen, but he was all over the place & driving me batty!
Poss trigs- I got a phone call from my 4yr old niece last night. "Um, yeah, hi! What's your address?" She got through the number part, then says "I don't know how to say the rest, tell mom!" LOL! She's sending us some "artwork", I will very proudly feature it on my fridge. While talking to SIL, I was getting updates on people I knew there. A little background on the person I'm about to gossip about- He's maybe 24 now & not quite 2yrs ago got married to a woman who's in her 40's, twice his age, old enough to be his mother. True, she doesn't look that old, but still... Anyway, they had a baby last yr (so now she gets to raise 2 kids!) & they named their son Guiness. Yup, like the beer. I'm afraid my eyes really WILL roll out of my head!
It's finally nice again here, SUNSHINE, 61*! (no, Christina, that's not cold, 'sweater weather'!) I hope this keeps up tomorrow. I think I still have the day off. If not, I'm leaving at 12:30. My Dr appt got bumped up to 1:30 (doncha think i should get a discount for accomodating his sched?).
Good day wishes to all of you! :^D
Downsized
Unfortunately, I'm not talking about my weight.
The owner of the store is doing some downsizing. The other guy I work with (the operations mngr) already told me this morning that he was officially looking for something else. So I wasn't sure if I'd be the next to go or asked to step up & do more.
Starting next week, I will only be 3 days/wk- Thurs, Fri, Sat. Making about 1/2 of what I do now.
I am trying to be optimistic, a few choice words keep popping into mind though. I'll formulate a plan & go out the 3 days I'm not working. I'll make it my job to find a job. (and pray that there's something there) I'm also wondering if there's a way to contact Ve.ri.zon & let them know that I'm available sooner. I'm worried about the trip to MT. We were planing on using our tax refund to pay for that trip, what if we need it for bills? What about the apt? If worst-case comes, I think we could move in w/little sis (would prob help her too). But would that count as breaking our lease? Would we get charged for it?
Ugh. I feel sick.
A poll!
Ok, I'm bored! Here's a poll on marriage. I got to thinking about parts of this after hearing that 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Interesting, and sad. It led to me thinking about some of the different factors in marriage & how any of us deal with them. This poll is totally optional & I'm not judging anyone. So, here are my questions--
1. How long have you been married?
2. How long did you know each other before you got married?
3. What shocked you the most about their habits when you started living together?
4. What was your worst year?
5. What was your best year?
6. What do you disagree about the most?
7. What have you worked out & stopped disagreeing over?
8. Have you changed your spouse in any way?
9. Has your spouse changed you?
10. What advice would you give to a couple about to be married?
and last one-
- After being married for a while, can you understand why some countries do arranged marriages?
Have fun! I'm putting my answers in the comments section. (so, yes, i'm responding to my own post!)
A rainy Monday
I hope all this rain will at least get us out of the "severe drought" catagory. At least it's not snow & the w/e was sunny & pretty, so I'll stop griping about it. Despite the rain, I'm in a really good mood. I slept pretty soundly last night & even woke up a few minutes before my alarm clock went off. And other than one spot in my back, I'm not in pain. No intestinal discomfort, no ovarian stabs. It's nice!
I tried Sherry's banana bread recipe yesterday. OMG! Wow! This stuff is fantastic! (dad & DH loved it!) I even got agave nector. I tried the light, is there a big difference between the light or the amber? It's so good! Like honey, only not as heavy or sticky. My mom has a gluten-free cookbook that starts out with a couple flour blends that can be substituted in your own recipes. I'll borrow the book from her & post the mixes for those who might want them. :^) I will have to learn how to make a reg bread, a loaf of Ezekiel bread is $5!!! =^O
Speaking of books, I ordered Dr. Dunne's book! Her website is the best price on it. (really, i looked) Plus, you get a couple 'bonuses' from ordering it there, which I've already read. This woman really seems to know her stuff & I can't wait to get started with it! You know the WW saying "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels"? Well, I'm changing it a little & adopting the motto "Nothing tastes as good as feeling good feels"! I know I may get discouraged, so I'd like to put down a list of the health reasons for why I need to get this under control. I'm going to put them in paper form & would also like to e-mail them to a support buddy. I have Dot & Misty's e-mail addys, would either of you mind?
I think I may do a second post with a poll later today. There's nothing uber-exciting going on in my life right now. I could go start something for some action, but who needs the drama? ;^) I hope everyone's week is off to a good start!
Saturday work
Not so bad actually. Not real busy, but that's because no one got a "now open saturday" sign like I suggested! I won't complain about it though, I'm feeling nauseous today. Only one more hr!
Travis & I need to go to Cos.tco & Wh.ol.eFo.ods, doesn't that sound exciting? Well, it is, sorta. I'm getting Quinoa so I can try some new side dishes with it & brown rice flour so I can try Sherry's banana bread recipe!
The good news is that I submitted an app to Ve.ri.zon for 3 diff positions. I put that I'm avail as of 5/26. Not sure if that was a good idea, but I think it's tacky to need time off right away in a new job. The trip to MT is not getting cxld though! If I get a phone interview, I can explain that & maybe they'll have another solution.
Woah! That was freaky! I have Yah.oo Mu.sic on & it was having dificulty streaming, I kinda forgot about it. It started working- Loud, sudden noise! My heart is working! Nope, not really working, it just wanted to blast a couple of commercials at me.
Poss triggs- Has anyone seen that Oc.to.mo.m is probably getting a reality show? WTH? That just makes me so mad! She doesn't deserve one by any means. WHY is irresponsibilty rewarded in this country? I don't plan on watching one second of it!
That's about it for me. Sorry, I just can't think today!
(((Hugs))) & good weekend wishes to all of you!
Still alive!
Hi Ladies! (i don't think i have any male readers, but hi to any if i do)
I'm alive! It's been a crazy busy wk. I was out making sales calls all day Tues & Wed. I had yesterday off & planned to be sooo productive, but ended up sleeping in then just doing stuff around the house.
So, as you may have read on Misty's blog, last night was the memorial of Christ's death which we observe. So, I put on a dress that I've had for yrs, but never worn here & it didn't fit. It was too big! My mom helped me pin it a little under the arms & it looked pretty good. I was going to have her take a pic of me while I looked nice, but the dress is cream colored. It looks good on, but makes me look washed out in photos.
I'm not looking forward to woking tomorrow, but it's only 6hrs, so shouldn't be that bad. If I start getting every Thurs off, I'll be spending them looking for a new job! I think it's tacky to explain that I have a trip planned & ask for time off right away, but the tickets are bought, so I'll do what I can.
Did anyone watch House Mon night? I'm not going to talk about Kutner, though that did have me crying at the end! There was another patient he had that got me off on a rant. Beauty Queens! I can't stand parents who put their kids through that crap! It should be classified as child abuse & outlawed. You know the audiences are full of pedifiles! And I can't imagine how badly it messes those children up. I'm not against local "cutest baby" photo contests, but the pagents really tick me off!
Ok, that's it for me today. I had other things to talk about, but can't remember any of them right now! I hope everyone has a great weekend! :^)
I remembered one! We should all start a trend that bushy uni-brows are sexy! 30 mins of ouch & making my head bleed is just silly. While we're at it, let's go for leg hair too! Stinkin time-consuming to stay smooth!
Shorter W/Es
It seems as though my already too short weekends will soon be getting shorter. I think I'm going to start working Saturdays.
I'm not so thrilled about it, but I'm ok with it. Our hrs are not real condusive to retail right now & builder business is soo slow! We gotta do something to compensate. My first offer to my boss was that I'd trade Saturday for the whole day off on Thurs (already my early day). He didn't like that, said he wanted me here for the whole week. So, over the weekend, I was trying to think of a way to make 6 days/wk doable without feeling burned out. I'm going to counter-offer w/Mon, Wed, & Fri- 10am-6pm; then Tues, Thurs, & Sat 9am-3pm. I think that will give me enough "home hrs" for domestic duties.
Honestly! Who ever thought that Women's Lib was a great idea??? It's not like men picked up housework when their wives moved into the job scene. So a woman today who has a job outside the home, STILL does all the work inside the home! Ladies, I think we got gyped! I can hear Travis' voice in my head saying "hey! I help!" It's true, I must give him some credit. But you'll still never see him cleaning or organizing just because the mess was bothering him. It's usually done to shut me up or because he's on his very last work shirt! Sorry, rant over. I'm glad that women can do such great things, but I get so sick of scrubbing the toilet after working all day!
Here's a perk that I will give him credit for- My car is cleaned!!! Travis didn't have to work Sat, so his boss let him borrow the truck & he cleaned our car, little sis' car, mom's mini van, & mom & dad's house! Woohoo! My car really needed that & looks sooo much better!
Well, not much else today. I'll let y'all know how the sched thing goes. Honestly, if we could afford it, I'd quit & find something else, but can't w/o something else to go to. Well, the guy I work for is a nice guy. So, the fighter in me wants to do my best to get things back up for him before I decide to move on.
Yaay! Sunny Friday!
It stopped raining! Woohoo! Not so happy about being stuck indoors today, I want OOOUUUT! (hmm, now I know how the cats feel! LOL!)
Ok, a few things-
Christina- Karen took a break because she got super busy at work. I think you're thinking of Kelly, she went on to adopt & has a little girl now. I honestly don't remember Casey.
The cong thing got cxld. There are a lot of elderly ones who are sick right now. And the 14yr old of the woman putting it together is back in the hosp. They don't know what's wrong w/her. Her blood pressure drops to nothing & she keeps passing out. They've run soooo many tests over the past few months & have no idea what's wrong. I'm thinking of inviting a family or two over to my parents' house for a bbq. I guess I should check that w/mom.
Ooops! Getting busy here! I'll finish this later!
Ok, I'm back! My group (DH, mom, & sis) will be here in about 1/2 hr for our lunch date.
I was searching for PCOS management options & came across a website by Dr Nancy Dunne. Interesting stuff, I signed up for the newsletter. She has a book "The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility" that I am interested in. Has anyone tried it? Any reviews? (found great reviews on Am.az.on) Here's the site if anyone is interested- http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/
All righty, I really don't have anthing to talk about today! Maybe later!
(((((HUGS))))) to Dot, Jayme, Caitlin, Julie, Margriet, Sherry, & anyone else who needs them today!
A slight peeve
This isn't about any of you! :^)
Ok, I hate the news. DH insists on watching it though & usually turns it to the local Fox station. The overpaid idiot they call an anchor can't seem to read! Like, last wk- there was a poll "do you think the tax increase for cigs is too high?" So they're reporting on this, with the poll results shown on the screen. It was 70-someodd who said "no" & 20-someodd who said yes. He reads it as "as seen in this poll, the majority are against the increase." Ummm, that's not what it says! The majority don't think that the increase is too high!
The dope did it again this week. There was something that a reward is being offered for. The screen showed a "$200K reward". Idiot boy read it as "two thousand". Sigh. This is the same station that often refers to the "bad guy" in a crime, or sometimes say "the cops". Why are they getting paid to be so stupid?
This also bothers me on comment boards. When someone doesn't really read what what said, then goes off on some stupid comment. For example- There's a story on MSN about Mi.che.lle Ob.ama putting her hand on Her Royal Majesty's back. (i don't think this is real news, btw. we don't really need to know about every sneeze & fart of those in office) Well, despite a long-standing policy of "no touchy", the Queen responded by doing the same. Yay! A human connection! Ok, so anyway, some non-reader commenter leaves a mssg about it not being a big deal that Mrs. Ob.ama touched the Q because the Q did it first. http://worldblog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/04/02/1875277.aspx?GT1=43001
I usually choose not to start internet wars, but honestly! Talk about putting yourself out there as a moron to thousands of strangers!
Ok, I hate the news. DH insists on watching it though & usually turns it to the local Fox station. The overpaid idiot they call an anchor can't seem to read! Like, last wk- there was a poll "do you think the tax increase for cigs is too high?" So they're reporting on this, with the poll results shown on the screen. It was 70-someodd who said "no" & 20-someodd who said yes. He reads it as "as seen in this poll, the majority are against the increase." Ummm, that's not what it says! The majority don't think that the increase is too high!
The dope did it again this week. There was something that a reward is being offered for. The screen showed a "$200K reward". Idiot boy read it as "two thousand". Sigh. Water Logged
Seriously. I am so sick of the rain! Yes, we need it, still in a drought, glad it's not snow, helps things get green. But I need to see the sun!!! We've had a couple of nice days, but it's pretty much been raining for 6 wks straight now! The cool thing about it is the color contrast. Everything is blooming in bright green, pink, white, & purple, then when the sky is dark blue/grey it looks really cool.
I was texting my friend E last night. There's some congregation get together this Sat & she was telling me that I'd better be there. I think I'm going to. I've skipped the last couple things because they were baby showers, it would prob do me some good to get out & mingle. Anyone want to come be my "security blankie"? ;^)
I'm tired today. Is it 3pm yet? I love Thursdays because I get off early. Still seems a ways away though...
Well, no great thoughts today. I'm feeling better & very happy for that, AF is sooo mean! I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday. :^)
